sex pistols to play live8?

so it is rumoured. i'm really not at all excited about it, although it has raised my interest in the "spectacle" from nil to vague. in other news, it appears that the pistols are still white so damon albarn won't be happy.

I'm currently reading "England's Dreaming" by Jon Savage.

It strikes me the Pistols would fit in perfectly. They should get Gang of Four while they're at it, so everyone can see what their dad looks like on stage.

wonderful book. i'm immersed in "rip it up and start again" by simon reynolds right now. it reads like a companion to "england's dreaming". you'd like it - lots of musings on the mekons, pere ubu, swell maps etc.

it's surprising how much passed me by completely, given that i was 14-20 years old for the peroid the book covers.
