Anarchist Bookfair in Barcelona

All this week (Mon 13 - Sun 19 June) an anarchist bookfair is taking place in Barcelona. The event is held at the Ateneu Llibertari del Besòs and there'll be presentations of books about Joan Peiró, El caso Scala and Alessandro de Giorgi's 'Zero Tolerance'. Also, documentaries, films and talks about education, art, theatre, industrial conflicts, etc. Vegan food all weekend (must make sure I eat my jamón serrano sandwich before I go...). Nice one, Jordi. We don't get many in Dublin.

Will there be any English-language books on sale?

what flavor of anatchist might that be? Is it merely the animal-house frat-boy type who thinks keggers and wet t-shirt contests (he has rufies on hand as well) set to some nauseating punk or grunge rock are like radical man....or mebbe the pachouli -reeking 'head from Boikley or 'Cruz with bob marley or PAtty Hearst pictures, a mac and his geetar, a bit mathematically challenged, who thinks his tofu pasta is an act of revolution? .....or does this anarchism wobble a bit, as some of those old dynamic if primitive paeans by Cactus Ed Abbye perhaps....Or rather is it mastermind Ted Kazcynski rotting a mile underground in Fed steel...........

Who is this prick - is it possible that here we have someone more irritating than Duff?

Well, j, I don't know if there'll be any revolutionary tofu pasta eaters, etc, etc. I'll find out in the weekend... Sadly, due to work I'll miss the documentaries and presentations in mid-week. There's a presentation of the book 'Joan Peiró a Badalona (1905-1920)
Inicis d'un sindicalista llibertari' this evening (Tuesday, 19.00) and a documentary about the metal factory Laforsa strike in 1976 (Thursday, 19.00).
Don't know about English-language publications, John, I think it's unlikely there are books in English, but maybe there's mags on sale.

Do you think we should run a competition for most irritating troll? I still think Duff's in the lead, since j clearly doesn't have a clue about European anarchism. I doubt he/she has ever left California or done an honest day's toil in his/her crappy life.

Reidski said...

Agreed, Duff is in the lead on account of his faux intellectual outporings whereas j is just abusive and bonkers - a bit like me really!

John said...

We'll have to decide on a prize, of course.

Reidski, I have never found you abusive or bonkers.

C&S guys: your patience with the comments inspires me.

Glad to know we serve some purpose!

Ah eurocentrism in action. To the usual hipster euro, the IWW and history of US anarchism is just rustic scheisse to be dismissed; and American universities are not like real European ones and someonw such as Ed Abbey is not authentic writer as is a Sartre, right? YOu are not anarchists, but more like failed maoists who wouldn't know Kropotkin from cafe latte.

John said...

Gosh, I wonder who this tosser can be?

Last time I looked, chum, the United States wasn't a continent and California wasn't a country, so do yourself a favour and compare like with like. As for the Wobblies, there are links here to them aplenty if you could be arsed to read. But I'm sure you figure there's no point.

J said...

And who mentioned a continent or California but you? I know enough about the Wobblies and anarchism to realize that marxists and various statists rat them out on a regular basis; and enough to know that "anarchism" is now generally a term for mathematically- challenged maoist-queers who would have in common with the cops and state employees than with an Abbey (or Bakunin for that matter)

WHAT THE FUCK?

J said...

What part don't you understand? Over here on the Cali frontier ( just 36 million +) the big union democrats and state employees don't give a phuck about the greens or independent leftist-libertarians (where at least some anarchists might position themselves). The Ed Abbey or Kucinich-like environmentalist-progressive has been shut out of the liberal hordes, which is commanded by soocer mommies and the demo unionists (or by the mafia).

Reidski said...

As previously stated, WHAT THE FUCK?

John said...

in a world of his own.

J said...

As I said you're about as anarchist as starbucks. Yr not interested in debate or ideas but simply in being part of your clique. "What the fuck" wow deep. sounds about like another yankee frat boy, except the dumbed-down, effeminate dublin version. I'm not in yr clique, hypocrite.

John said...

you're in a clique of your own, mate. Debate necessarily requires that we speak the same language and that we respect one another's opinions. You've seen fit not to satisfy either requirement, wilfully misunderstanding us at every turn, so why should we even bother paying you any attention?

Have you heard the term "water off a duck's back?"

John said...

Oh yeah, WHAT THE FUCK?

J said...

It's not "what the fuck"

it's

STFU, mick

Reidski said...

John, I may misunderstand, but, as well as being named "John", are you also named "mick"?
And is the STFU a trade union in the USA or Ireland?

J said...

Come on, did y'all just get electricity out there in the clover fields? Takin' some time off from yr sheep herdin' duties or blarney stone gatherin' to post some thoughts online? Let's have a round of Danny Boy, laddies, or Paddy on the Turnpike....! Youse all works some fiddles and pipes eh?

how about a nice cup
of STFU

Shut
The
Fuck
Up

heh heh

Billy Yeats was a monkey

Reidski said...

"a nice cup of STFU"?? What are you talking about?

John said...

Blimey, don't interrupt him, Reidski, he's on one.

I think "Mick" and "Mickski" are his low-rent anti-irishisms, compounded by conflating the two of us, neither of us Irish (but WTF does that matter to him, we're ALL Europeans) into an imagined uber-enemy of fake anarchists and "aesthetes."

Oh yes, and "fratboys."

I suspect he's actually what they call a "shut-in."

J said...

I suspect he's actually what they call a "shut-in."

And I suspect you are another maoist-statist in disguise, an expert at "profiling" and various J-Edgar like character assassinations...

John said...

Yeah, that's about as accurate as everything else you've written.
